I’m thrilled to have Love Inspired Suspense author, Sharee Stover, back with us today to talk about her newest series coming out in May.
For those on the blog who haven’t met you before, Sharee, tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am a Colorado native and the mountains there will always be home for me, but I currently live in Nebraska. I am the proud wife of a law enforcement officer and the mother of three wonderful children. I also have a spoiled rotten German Shepherd who we think is part cat, but that’s a totally different conversation. My background is diverse in various roles within emergency management. I’ve had the privilege of working for fire departments, police departments, state and federal agencies.
Describe your story in 5 sentences or less:
Scientist Ace Steele is hired by the ATF to develop a top-secret project named Ghost. Ghost is a 3D printer gun using frangible ammunition, and the components are comprised entirely of plastic, making the gun untraceable via metal detectors. The ATF is certain a mole exists who is working with a local militia. The militia’s leader will do anything to get Project Ghost.
What is the inspiration behind your story?
I’m always learning and taking in possible story ideas. So, in a one-day Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms writing conference I attended, I took copious notes. The compilation of that conference and a lot of research birthed my three-book ATF Heroes series releasing in May, November, and the spring of 2021.
The idea for the first book in the series, Untraceable Evidence, came as a result of research regarding 3D printer guns. An article in USA Today was especially helpful as it described how the ATF was making 3D printer guns using the model posted online by Cody Wilson. After several tries and experimenting with different grades of resin, they were able to create a gun that held up during multiple rounds of firing. The Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988 specifically requires guns to have metal components because that makes them detectable via metal detectors.
Believe it or not, reading the Act triggered (no pun intended) my thinking.
What would happen if a completely plastic gun with no metal parts was developed? How easily would the weapon be transported, smuggled into schools, airports, courtrooms, etc.? Using the information gleaned in my research, I also learned frangible ammunition or disintegrating bullets exists and leaves no bullet casings.
Those are scary facts! That makes the job of the police so much harder! So, do you reward yourself when a book is finished? If so, what is your favorite treat?
Absolutely!! Milky Way Midnights are my favorite and they are saved exclusively for a finished book. However, I keep the mini ones as rewards for smaller accomplishments.
Who was your favorite character to create?
By far ATF agent, Wesley Zimmer is my favorite character in the book. He cracks me up. He’s witty, has a great sense of style, and the man is always eating.
Are you part of a writing group?
I’m a huge proponent of writing groups and I participate in a couple. These ladies are amazing and the wonderful relationship we’ve built has made all the difference in my writing. There’s something powerful about having a group of friends to pray with, critique each other’s work, and to share the highs and lows of writing.
What’s next for you as an author?
I’m currently working on the last book in the ATF series which releases in 2021. So, for right now, I’m knee-deep in research and plotting.

He added her spectacular shooting to his ask-her-about-that-later list. “How do you feel about rappelling down the side?”
Randee’s eyes widened—whether in doubt or surprise he wasn’t sure. Her gaze rebounded from the loft opening, to the hay door, then back to him. “Go first, and I’ll cover you.”
A scurrying up the ladder said an intruder – most likely the one without a gunshot wound—was coming.
An argument lingered on his lips, but her stiffened stance and hard set of her jaw conveyed her nonnegotiable order. Gripping the briefcase handle, he made a single-handed, incredibly awkward descent from the second floor. A new appreciation for his college rock-climbing adventures with Fritz bounded to the forefront of his mind.
Rapid gunfire resonated from inside the stable, quickening his descent. His palm burned from the course threads. He released his hold and glanced up as his shoes struck the hard ground.
